Inviting Users & Permissions in Vector

đź«‚ How to Invite Users

check-owner.gif

To invite a new user, go to the bottom left corner of Vector and hover over your name. You’ll see an option to Invite Users.

Clicking that takes you to the Invite Users page, where you can:

  1. Enter the email address of the person you want to invite

  2. Select their permission level before sending the invite

Note: Only admins and owners can invite new users. If you don’t see the option, double-check your role on the Invite Users page — it will show whether you’re a member, admin, or owner. If you’re a member, you’ll need to either:

  • Ask an admin or owner to send the invite, or

  • Request that they update your role from member to admin

💡 Pro tip: By default, invites are limited to your company’s email domain (e.g., @vector.co). If you need to invite folks outside your domain, just email us at support@vector.co and we’ll open that up.

🛂 Understanding User Permissions in Vector

In Vector, user roles don’t gate what you can do in the platform — they just determine what kind of settings you can manage. No matter your role, you’ll still have full access to the good stuff: building segments, checking out the visitor feed, using Ad Reveal, and more.

Here’s how it all breaks down 👇

đź‘‘ Owner

The ultimate keyholder.

  • Can invite new users âś…

  • Can assign roles (Owner, Admin, Member) âś…

  • Can remove users âś…

  • Can promote/demote anyone, including making others an Owner âś…

  • Can never be deleted (they’re the owner — kind of the account anchor)

  • Has access to:

    • Organization-level settings

    • SSO + SAML configs (available on Target plan)

    • Org-wide API keys

You can have multiple Owners if you like to share the crown đź‘‘

đź›  Admin

Power tools, minus the nuclear codes.

  • Can invite new users âś…

  • Can assign Admin or Member roles âś…

  • Can update anyone except the Owner đźš«

  • Can remove users âś…

  • Has access to org-wide API keys âś…

  • No access to SSO/SAML ❌ (available on Target plan)

Admins can do most of what an Owner can — but they can’t touch the Owner role or settings tied to identity providers.

đź‘€ Member

Look, but don’t touch (much).

  • Can view the Invite Users page đź‘“

  • Can see who’s who and what their roles are đź‘€

  • Can’t invite new users or change anyone’s role ❌

  • No access to SSO or API keys ❌

Perfect for teammates who just need to use Vector, not manage it.

FAQs with User Permissions:

Q:Why can’t I invite someone outside of my own email domain?
By default, Vector only allows users to invite others with the same email domain (e.g., @vector.co). But good news—this can be updated! Just contact support@vector.co and we’ll update your settings on the backend so you can invite folks from any domain.

Q: Need your role updated or something unlocked?
Just give your friendly Owner or Admin a nudge 🙋‍♀
