Solving for Multiple Notifications for One Visitor
Last updated: May 21, 2025
If you’re seeing repeat notifications or Vector actions from what looks like the same person over and over again, here’s what’s happening — and how to fix it.
✅ First: Check Your Segment & Frequency Settings
If your segment and notification frequency look correct but you're still getting too many alerts, the issue is likely not with your configuration.
🧠 What’s Really Happening: Bot Traffic
Here’s the most common reason for this behavior:
Some bots or automated services don’t retain a consistent visitor ID.
Each time they hit your site, they look like a brand-new visitor to Vector.
That means your frequency settings (e.g. "only notify me once per day per contact") won’t apply, because it appears to be a new person every time.
These bots may also spoof or reuse the same email or name, which is why it seems like it’s the “same” person showing up repeatedly.
🔒 Solution: Blacklist the URL
Blacklist the URL where this activity is happening.
Here’s how:
Add a filter in your segment: Contact LinkedIn URL > does not contain
Add the LinkedIn URL for the bot
Save changes — edits will take effect immediately going forward.
This prevents Vector from logging or acting on traffic to that contact LinkedIn URL at all, including triggering segment matches or notifications.
🛡 Pro Tip
If this is happening on a site you control (e.g., a login screen or internal tool), you can also ask your dev team to block bot traffic via robots.txt or backend filtering.
