Location Filter

Overview

The Location filter in Vector helps you identify where your contacts are located at the contact level, rather than relying on their company's headquarters.

The filter currently supports U.S. states only. City-level, broader regional, and international location filtering are not supported.

This allows Account-Based Marketers and Field Marketers to build state-specific audiences for targeted outreach, events, and campaigns.

Why Use the Location Filter?

  • Contact-level targeting: Identify contacts based on their state rather than their company's headquarters.

  • State-specific campaigns: Build audiences for field events, personalized outreach, and geographic marketing initiatives.

  • Flexible segmentation: Combine Location with triggers such as Site Visitors, Intent Signals, or Ad Clicks to refine your audience.

Example Use Case: Building an In-Person Event Audience

Hosting an event in California? Use the Location filter to identify relevant contacts located in the state.

Setup

  • Trigger: Intent Topics relevant to your business

  • Filter: Location = California

  • Filter: Target Account = Yes

  • Filter: Seniority = C-Level (optional)

Result

You'll create a segment of contacts who:

  • Are showing intent for your solution.

  • Are located in California.

  • Belong to a target account.

  • Meet your selected seniority criteria, if applied.

You can use this audience for personalized event invitations, targeted nurture campaigns, or direct outreach.

Note: Location filtering is available at the U.S. state level only. For example, selecting California includes eligible contacts across the state, not just those in Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Best Practices

  • Combine Location with behavioral triggers such as Intent Signals or Site Visitors to create more relevant audiences.

  • Use contact-level location rather than relying solely on company headquarters.

  • Create dedicated state-based segments for field marketing and geographic campaigns.

  • Remember that Location does not support city-level or international targeting.
